We were discussing the fall, and return, and fall, and return of the Babylonians, only to finally be ousted by the Persians (and they won’t come back this time).

REMINDER:  We are headed to the library tomorrow.  Bring everything you need to work on your project.

We finished our exploration of the Protestant Reformation.

REMINDER:  Tomorrow we will be playing our review game.  Be sure to read Chapter 5 to prepare for Friday’s test (it will also help you in the review game tomorrow!)

AP World History

We went over Chapter 3’s test today.  Next, we were introduced to the concept of Southernization.

HOMEWORK:  Please read the Southernization article by Lynda Shaffer:

How does Southernization affect Europe and the Middle East? List 6 ways Europe is affected and 6 ways the Middle East is affected.

Finish reading Chapter 5 for a test on Friday.

World History 8

We looked at the advanements of the Babylonians, then the rise and fall of the Hittites, and the rise of the Assyrians.

REMINDER:  We will be going to the library on Thursday.  If you are making bricks and they don’t work out properly, be prepared to switch projects ASAP.  Wednesday night should be your milestone day.

World History 9

Today, we examined the beginning of Lutheranism and its spread into other parts of Europe.

REMINDER:  Thursday we will review the Renaissance and Reformation for a test on Friday.

AP World History

Today we discussed the unifying power of the major philosophers of the Classical Age and began looking at advances in other regions during the same time period.

We did some Sumerian/Babylonian math in class then watched my good ole’ buddy Arizona Smith regale us with tales from Mesopotamia.

REMINDER:  Keep working on the project and be ready to tell me which project you are going to complete on Tuesday.

We viewed a film on Martin Luther and took notes.

REMINDER:  We will be having a test on the Renaissance and Reformation on Friday.

AP World History

Today was the Chapter 4 test.

HOMEWORK: Write a thesis statement comparing the three societies view on women from yesterday’s reading.  What other documents could we use to help prove the thesis?  Identify some.  This is due Tuesday.

Also, read in Chapter 5 pgs. 98-110.

World History 8

Hammurabi’s Code was our focus today.  We discussed scenarios that Hammurabi’s code was written to address and suggested punishments for these scenarios.  It was quite shocking to hear Hammurabi’s actual outcomes.

REMINDER:  Keep working on the Mesopotamia Project.

World History 9

We went over the Renaissance Quiz today.  After that, we worked on a Timeline/Martin Luther worksheet in class.  If it was not completed, it needs to be done for homework tonight.

HOMEWORK:  Finish worksheet.

AP World History

We took an in depth look at the AP exam.  We then used our essays and applied the AP scoring rubric to the paper.

REMINDER:  Tomorrow is the Chapter 4 test.  STUDY.

We took a quick Renaissance quiz today.  If you missed it, see me immediately to make it up.  We then began to look at Christian Humanism and how it influenced the Reformation.

We took the Chapter 3 test today.

We talked about the geography of Mesopotamia and began applying 7 features of civilization to the civilizations we will be studying.

Today we discussed Renaissance writers and set the stage for the Protestant Reformation.

REMINDER: Tuesday the Renaissance artist PowerPoint project is due.

We reviewed Chapter 3 in preparation for the Chapter 3 test on Monday.  Please study!

Today we took the Pre-History Test.

HOMEWORK: Please read pgs. 26-33 in your textbook and define the Content Vocabulary on pg 26 (in the left column).  It will be checked tomorrow.

Also, tomorrow is Constitution Day and we will be discussing the Constitution in class.

We examined Machiavelli’s The Prince and read an article about how it influences the TV show Survivor.

HOMEWORK:  Please complete the question sheet that corresponds with the newspaper article.

We went over the chapter 1 & 2 test today and examined some documents on Hinduism.

HOMEWORK:  Read pgs 76-87 in the blue Worlds of History reader.  Create a thesis statement to compare and contrast Hinduism and Christianity.  Finally, identify at least 3 useful primary sources for information on Christianity.

We completed our examination of the 7 features of civilization.  Next, we played Pre-History Trivia Challenge to review for the Chapter 1 test.
