We completed our study of the Punic Wars today.

REMINDER: Tomorrow we will be headed to the library for research on the Newspaper assignment.  There will be a quiz on Rome Wednesday.  Thursday and Friday is the 8th Grade trip to Philadelphia.

Today we began discussing Latin American independence movements.

REMINDER:  Thursday we will review and Friday will be the test on Chapter 14.

We discussed Jackson’s fight against states rights and his destruction of the National Bank.

We continued our examination of Imperialism in Southeast Asia.

For homework, answer these questions:

How is this new imperialism different from old imperialism?
Describe direct and indirect rule.
What was the first new imperial colony?
How did these new imperial colonies differ from the American colonies?
How did Social Darwinism and racism play into this new imperialism?

We will discuss these answers on Monday.

First, the Chapter do-at-home was assigned.  We began looking at regional issues that will grow and plague the USA.

Today we played our trivia review game for the Classical and Hellenistic Age of Ancient Greece.

REMINDER:  Tomorrow is the Classical and Hellenistic Age test.  It will be online, so be sure you can access Skyward.

We took a few minutes to discuss and write down tasks for the Newspaper Assignment.  We then began examining Imperialism from a standpoint of national prestiege, Social Darwinism, and racism.
