Today we discussed the end of the Battle of Thermopylae and the destruction of the Persian navy at Salamis.  We will begin the Age of Pericles tomorrow.

Modern World History

Our discussions started with Chapter 12 about the 2nd Industrial Revolution in the 1870s.

US History I

We discussed the XYZ Affair and Jefferson and Madison’s proposal of nullification.

We reviewed Athens and Sparta today since it’s been awhile since we last met.  Tomorrow we will start discussing the Persian Wars.

Today we began wrapping up Washington’s presidency.  We will look at two major issues he had to contend with as well as his farewell address.

It’s been a rough couple of days for me.  For those who have been absent, I was out sick Wednesday and Thursday.

Below are the assignments that were completed in class on the days I was out.  If you were absent, please complete these assignments and turn them in to me on Monday, February 23 after we return from a nice long break.

World History 8

Read 114-117 and take notes on the section about Sparta.  On pg 117, answer review questions 2, 6, and 7. 

Identify all vocabulary terms on pg. 118.  (The words are on the left column).

Modern World History

Read pgs 398-401 and take notes. 

Finish Chapter 12 vocabulary.

Read Chapter 12 Section 4 and take notes.

US History I

Read Chapter 6 Section 1 (pgs 182-187) and are to answer questions 2-4 on pg 187.

We discussed Athenian Democracy today.  We also voted in the Athenian way, and the results are as follows:

So the decision has been made that the next test will be online in the library.

Tomorrow we will examine Sparta.

REMINDER:  The Chapter 12 test will be on Friday, February 13.

Today we looked at German Unification and how it unbalanced power in Europe.

HOMEWORK:  Read pgs 398-401 and take brief notes–in class we will put note on PowerPoint for discussion.

Begin reading Chapter 12, Section 4 and taking notes.  It will be due Friday and will be on the test.

Continue work on the vocabulary for Chapter 12.

We began looking at George Washington’s presidency and the difficulties he had to face.

We began discussing the Greek polis in the Classical Period.  Tomorrow we will be examining Athens and vote on a topic in the Athenian style.

We examined the Crimean War and the Italian unification.  Tomorrow we will explore German unification.

US History I

Today was the test on the Articles of Confederation and Constitution.

Today we took the Bronze Age and Dark Age Greece test.  

HOMEWORK:  Read pgs 112-117.  Define the Content Vocabulary on the left column of page 112.  It will be checked Monday.

Modern World History

We viewed a film on the Industrial Revolution.

HOMEWORK:  Keep working on the vocabulary for Chapter 12.  It is due Thursday, February 12.

US History I

We played Articles of Confederation and Constitution Trivia Challenge today.  

REMINDER:  Monday is the AoC/Constitution Test.

We  discussed issues of Nationalism in Europe.

US History I

Aspects of the Bill of Rights was discussed in class today.  Real world applications was our focus.  Tomorrow will be our review game.
